This picturesque location will be home to an intensive two week music course for the most talented string players from across the globe, aged 10-18. The faculty is comprised of prestigious musicians and professors from London’s Royal Conservatoires and top independent schools.
About Strings Courses
Our music team is chosen by our Artistic Director Nicole Wilson.
Nicole Wilson is a violin teacher at London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Music, former first violinist of the London Symphony Orchestra, former Principal of English National Opera, Concertmaster of the London Musical Theatre Orchestra and Chair of ESTA UK.
Nicole’s experience of running many music courses since 2018 has enabled her to hand-pick the best and most inspiring musicians from across the UK to work with her to give the students an unparalleled musical experience.
About Vocal Courses
Our vocal team is brought together by the world famous choral leader and TV personality Gareth Malone.
His experience in leading vocal courses for adults and children alike is world renowned. His infectious enthusiasm, creativity and expertise inspires all who work with him and this year he will be joined by Swingle Singer Imogen Parry, choral leader Laurel Neighbour and pianist and composer Harry Baker.
This 7 day course that will sharpen your vocal skills, deepen your musical interpretation, and teach invaluable ensemble skills. We’ll be tackling a range of vocal styles through classical, close harmony, pop, as well as working with the VIMA string orchestra. Each day will feature games, creative work, vocal technique exercises, guided rehearsals, and ensemble practice.

Winchester College
VIMA is a unique opportunity to work with and be heard by top international teachers. Rarely can students of this age work closely with tutors of this calibre, with the opportunity to discover so much varied music. Students will explore solo, chamber and string orchestra repertoire, with informal performance opportunities throughout the week. A concert for friends and family at Winchester College’s New Hall will close the course.
A limited number of private 1:1 lessons are available on a first come first serve basis with the faculty. Once you have been accepted onto the course, you may request these on the form you will receive.
First Class Facilities
As well as a packed schedule of music, the students will have truly British experiences including a tour of the world famous Harry Potter Studio Tours and experiencing a thrilling live musical in London’s West End. Free time during the course will make full use of Winchester College’s first class facilities from swimming and football, to movie nights and picnics.

The course culminates with a concert for family and friends in the stunning, acoustically redesigned concert hall in Winchester College.
Each student who completes the course will receive a video recording of the final concert and special certificate of attendance, certified by ESTA UK.
Application Process

The full course fee including accommodation and all food and tuition is £2500

You will need to record a video of two contrasting pieces, recorded within the last six months and uploaded as a link to YouTube or Vimeo.

A reference from your teacher is required. You will be required to submit the teacher’s email address in the application form and they will be emailed and asked to provide a confidential reference.

An application fee of £20 is required to submit your application. This cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

You will be contacted within 2 weeks to let you know the result of your application.

If you have been offered a place on the course you are required to pay the balance within two weeks. If we haven’t paid the balance after this date, the place will be released for other students on the waiting list.
